Once Upon A Tasty Christmas @ Twenty.One

Christmas, a season of joy and giving. Celebrated it many a time since I was a kid due to influence from my loving aunt, and till today I'm still celebrating it with her. Anyway, this Christmas, I made a trip up to 1Utama in Damansara, Selangor to meet her for Christmas dinner. And yeah I would say that each and every nook and cranny of the mall was grand and decorated with Christmas decor of all sorts. The carousal itself was spectacular with every shop-lot a Christmas design of it's own. Christmas songs in the air, hundreds of people jollying everywhere; it was a scene that made one stare, the spirit and beauty it was there. People from all around, taking pictures, shopping, having fun as they would, really worth it's while to be there as I could remember.

Candy snowmen!

Lovely decor!

Items on sale!

A very merry Christmas!!!

Presents for Boxing Day

Cookies and Cream

Chocolates on sale!

Even my favourite Famous Amos has a say this Christmas!

Wandering about in amaze, my aunt called mii up and told that we were going to Bangsar Shopping Centre for some roasted turkey. Well, having had many of our meals in 1Utama made mii carving for something new. Hence then, Bangsar Shopping Centre it is. 15minutes away and we were there. And as one would have thought, it had it's own Christmas spirit as well. The only difference was the ambiance here was much more calm and cooler, less people on the move and the song 'Silent night' can never fail to replay over and over again in my mind. With Christmas lights lighting up the area, it really was a pleasant sight for those who loved a peaceful Christmas.

A totally different kind of Christmas in Bangsar Shopping Centre

Lighted up!

Going up a few stories and we were soon at the entrance of Twenty. One, Tables and Terrace. We got a table then but I would advice a pre-booking if you are planning on visiting during a public holiday to get the best view in the house. The menu itself was mouth-watering, and we were served poppadom at the start. And since it was Christmas, we decided to try the Christmas special 'Jingle My Bells' consisting of a 3-course set menu. But do remember this menu lasts till end of this December only. Anyway, pictures says it all then.

Great atmosphere!

A wide range of beers and wine to choose from!

Had the usual 'Sex On The Beach', opps! XD

1. The 1st course on serving! 'Santa's Little Helpers' was the name! Tiger prawns in garlic, paprika and pumpkin sauce to add to taste, dressed with red radish and watercress salad. The taste was exquisite, especially the pumpkin sauce, making this a burst of flavour once it enters your mouth!

Santa's Little Helpers

 2. Second up, 'Stuff My Stocking'! Nicely-cooked turkey breat and roasted turkey leg as the main stars, served with chicken liver terrine, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes, giving this dish a not-to-miss label.

Stuff My Stocking

3. 'Mistletoe Kisses', the last of the course to give it a sweet ending. Strawberries, cream cheese mousse, strawberry sorbet, basil leaves and chocolate crumble; everything to give you a sweet memory to take home with.

Mistletoe Kisses

And if you think that was enough, we also got our hands on the normal daily menu. Seems that I'll really need to diet after this, but honestly, the food here was simply awesome, splendid! The texture, the appearance and the taste, I could really rate it amongst the best ever foods that I've tasted up till now. With a sip of wine to add to the taste, plus it was happy hour at that time, ordered my usual 'Sex On The Beach' and got another free! Simply my best Christmas ever!

Nachos to add to other wonderful dishes.

Spegetti Aglio Olio

Pan-fried Seabass

Oh, before I forget, I really have to comment on the service here. Excellent, fast, polite and professional. The waiters, even the workers in the toilet area, I was simply impressed at the service. Five stars to say the least, and it really is a place to go back to one day. With the sky darkening, and the lights from the KL tower seen from afar, it was time to bid goodbye to such a splendid evening. Right before we left Bangsar, I also visited the area selling all kinds of Christmas goodies. It'll be Boxing Day tomorrow, and almost every item were on half price. Candies, stollens, marshmallows, chocolates, cakes, puddings and many other stuff, certainly Christmas, a really sweet one.

World Chocolate Champion from Belgium!

Sweet-tooth!

Would you believe it, it's a cake!

This as well!

So comes to an end, my Christmas celebration. It really was one that I could never forget, you don't get so much good food to taste everyday anyway. Thx to Twenty. One for giving us a memory to keep, will be visiting you soon!!!!

Boston εˆδΈ€εŸŽ!

Freaking long since I updated on this blog. Was busy with my other blog http://nickel-low.blogspot.com/, do check it out. Anyway, this time would be a trip to Boston Concept Restaurant, Seri Manjung Perak branch. It was almost to the end of my posting then only did I and my friends had the sudden urge to pay this restaurant a visit.

Anyway, given our first time being there, we decided to go for the set menus, easier to choose from we thought. The menus were a whole lot of variety, and so many to choose from, special for each and anytime of the day, awesome! So we had a go on the Italian Style Grilled Chicken, Black Pepper Chicken Chop Rice and Thai Style Chicken Chop Rice.

Do try the cheese-baked items, I thought they looked good. Gonna try them soon.

For mii, the Italian Style Grilled Chicken was quite good, with mayonnaise cream webbed on top of a piece of ham sitting nicely just above the grilled chicken. But my personal favourite will have to be the Thai Style Chicken Chop Rice. Being fond of spicy foods, I still though it wasn't spicy enough. But then, this will do for my taste buds. Sweet and sour, it was quite a taste. I didn't like the Black Pepper Chicken Chop Rice to be honest, too peppery for mii. Still love the black pepper chicken at Kenny Rrrrr!

The side dishes at Boston were also quite good, although I didn't really managed to get the photos cause it was all gone when the food came. Really have to give a go on the side dishes there. The environment there was also very satisfying, cool and it really helps one to indulge in the food there. Price was reasonable and of  course, it could be one of the best Western cafes in Seri Manjung Perak.

I still have a lot to go through the menus in Boston, after all, one visit is never enough I always say. Will update this article again once I get more food into this tummy. For now, Boston, do give it a try then. I think there are many more outlets around Malaysia. Am looking forward to visit the one in Puchong, Selangor. Till then, cya!!

Won Korean Dining, An Amazing Dining Experience!

Yes, I do have to admit the Running Man programme had made a change in taste buds of mine lately. Usually, I'm not a big fan of Korean cuisine, but now after this experience, I don't see how I could ever say no to Korean BBQ anytime.

Simplicity, tranquility.

Great atmosphere

Won Korean Dining in I-Setan, 1Utama, Selangor has made an immediate impact, stamping it's authority in my list of best ever tasted delicacies of all time! The first time entering, I still wasn't sure about Korean foods until I tasted some of the best delicacies there. With the latest K-Pop on TV as entertainment, a glance through the menu certainly opened up my eyes to new flavours. The names of the dishes were in Korean, but of course explained in English. But having a Korean owner to serve us, it was simply better to get to know the delicacies in perfect details and recommendations straight from a local.

A pledge to all customers

Menu sneak peak

In just 3 weeks time, I've made 3 visits already to the place. And each time, I've never seem to ever miss out on the BBQ delicacy. Well, 1st of all, I highly recommend, in fact the owner herself recommends the Shindangdong Tteockbokki ~~ Korean fry rice-cakes and noodles mixed in thick yummy spicy sauce. This is much better than the one I once had in Ampang Korean Village, not too spicy, thick and creamy, and of course full of taste. It wasn't too salty and it really is good eaten hot. The rice-cakes are not too sticky, nor too hard, and to mix with the specially made spicy sauce is simply amazing. Another special thing about the rice-cakes is that they were imported straight from Korea, so don't ever doubt the quality, the taste simply marvelous!

Bubbly goodness, Shindangdong Tteockbokki.

Springy noodles

A must try!!

The spicy sauce is a catch!

Next, the main stars,  Daepae Samgyupsal (thin pork belly slices BBQ dish) or Samgyupsal (thick pork belly slices BBQ dish)! These two dishes have made mii crave for BBQ every time I step into the place. For mii, both taste excellent when put to the grill, but the thick slices of pork belly stands out most. Crisp, aromatic and grilled with garlic and onions, this is the taste of a lifetime! Our dishes were specially cooked by the owner herself, hence it was a privilege to get a Korean to actually help us make our meal even more appetizing! She even taught us the ways of eating it, two ways in fact, I'll explain later below.

Sauces and spice makes it nice!

 Watch the transformation!

 5.

 6.
Walla! All done and ready to eat!!!!!

With oil trickling down the gutters of the grill set, you'll taste the whole flavour of the meat, no oil, no porky smell. Just the meat! For health conscious diners, you'll not have to worry about the oil then, simply tantalizing! With some green tea to add to, this meal certainly made our time worth-while.

Ways to eat:

Type 1:

1.
Green lettuce as the base.

 2.
Sprinkle grated cabbages on top of lettuce.

 3.
Mix and match your sauce.

4.
Add meat and enjoy!!!!!

 Type 2:

1.
Dip meat directly into specially made salted olive oil.

 2.
Dip meat into specially made spicy bean paste. Enjoy!!!

Each meal comes with refillable side dishes, and trust mii even the side dishes are good themselves. There is also the Jeyook Doenjangjigae, pork slices stirred fried in special spicy sauce (Pictures to be updated a.s.a.p). This is also a favourite of mine, but sadly no pictures were taken for this dish, was too hungry that day! XD Anyway, do go for that, a great satisfaction that!

Refillable side dishes.

Sweet sour ice sherbet as dessert!

Last but not least, pictures to sum it all up! It really was a great dinning experience for mii, especially pork eaten in a very different and superb way. I'm going back there again soon, hope to see you guys there too! Many thanks to the Korean lady who helped us introduce and prepare our food, Kamsamnida!!
